Emily is an artist, textile and surface painter living in Los Angeles. She graduated from Vassar with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art then moved to L.A. from NYC to pursue a career in film and art. She has worked extensively in both fields.

As a fine artist, Wagner has shown her work locally, internationally and to critical acclaim. Her last two solo shows at the Acuna Hansen Gallery in Los Angeles were chosen as LA Weekly’s “Pick of the Week” and her work in group shows received glowing reviews from the LA Times.  Her video piece “Twosome” was shown in the LA Freewaves exhibition at the UCLA Hammer Museum in 2006.

Wagner’s hand-painted illustrations and textiles can be seen on the fabrics of Forever 21, Rory Beca, Hy & Dot, Curio & Kind and are regularly sourced by interior designers such as Hillary Thomas and Molly Luektemeyer.   Her goods have been sold at stores such as Ten Over Six, Distant LA, Hillary Thomas’ Chic Shop, Fiore Designs and One Kings Lane.

Wagner’s treats each piece of fabric as a painting. Her process for creating textiles is the same as when creating an art piece. It is an elaborate pushing and pulling, placing and removing of color, texture and composition until the right balance (or imbalance) is achieved.
